Accessibility Statement
Last updated: January 12, 2025
We want everyone—regardless of device, language, or ability—to explore the Zero Waste Asia directory, learning hub, and community tools. This page outlines how we approach accessibility and the ways you can request additional support.
1. Our Commitment
Zero Waste Asia is committed to providing an inclusive digital experience for advocates, organizers, and communities across the region. We aim to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA wherever feasible and to improve continuously as we expand the platform.
2. What We Are Doing
- Designing with semantic HTML, proper headings, and keyboard-friendly interactions.
- Providing descriptive alt text for meaningful images and ensuring media does not flash excessively.
- Testing color contrast and using accessible palettes that support low-vision users.
- Reviewing new features with automated accessibility tooling and manual audits before release.
3. Where We Are Improving
- Expanding captions and transcripts for video or audio content hosted on partner platforms.
- Improving map experiences by offering alternative structured data for screen reader users.
- Localizing policy pages in more languages across Asia Pacific.
4. Using Assistive Technology
The site is compatible with current versions of mainstream browsers and assistive technologies, including screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver), screen magnifiers, and speech recognition software. We recommend using the latest browser version for the best experience.
5. Third-Party Services
Some tools embedded on Zero Waste Asia—such as maps or external applications—are delivered by third-party providers. While we advocate for accessible integrations, we may not control their code. When a component does not meet accessibility expectations, we actively work with partners to provide alternative access.
6. Feedback and Support
We value input from the community. If you encounter an accessibility barrier or need the information in a different format (PDF, large print, audio), contact us at [email protected] or fill out the support form.
Report an access issue7. Response Time
We aim to acknowledge accessibility requests within five business days. Resolution timelines depend on complexity, but we will keep you informed of progress and offer interim solutions whenever possible.
8. Ongoing Updates
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We review this statement annually or when significant platform changes occur. The most recent update date is listed above. Archived versions are available upon request.
